Be Remarkable
Mr. Jim
Mr.Jim is our school bus driver. He has been driving a bus for our district for many years and is known by children and parents alike. He absolutely does not compromise on safety or service. If it’s snowing, his bus is always on time with chains (the decision is at the driver’s discretion). He knows which children can get off the bus without their parents and staunchly keeps them on the bus if no one is available to meet them, he does not allow the children to cross in front of the bus before he signals them allowing him time to be sure all the traffic has stopped behind him. If they forget they are corrected through the loudspeaker and made to perform the task again and lastly, he has a treat on every holiday for all of the kids on his bus and the younger siblings who are waiting for their return.
Being Remarkable Starts Small
It’s not any large accomplishment that makes Mr. Jim so remarkable…it’s the special care he adds to all of the little things that are a part of his job everyday that accomplishes this. Everyone knows him, loves him and there is not much Mr. Jim can’t do because of the trust and rapport he has garnered with the people he serves everyday.
The Real Deal
People like Mr. Jim teach us that it is not what you do that makes a difference in this world…it’s how you do it. So the next time you’re feeling like your job is unimportant, or that you can’t affect any real change…remember that the transformation actually takes place inside of you, one little remarkable step at a time.
