I had to peel away all of layers of who I thought I was to find who I really was. I had to release a lot of fairy tale ideas of who I was to find me. I told myself that I was an honest person. What I found was that because of the family secret sof alcoholism and incest, nothing about me was honest. I had to lie about who I was to feel safe and to keep others from knowing the wounded child that I really was. Today, there are no family secrets.
