Chakras Speak: Are You Listening?
Have you ever considered speaking to your chakras and getting their meaning directly?
I’ve experimented with this before while experiencing symptoms, which wrote about it in my post “Gotta Question? Ask Your Body…” but this exercise is more about asking the chakras to explain how they currently function for you in your life.
One idea in particular set me in this direction of exploration after being coached around the development of my new website. During the session, I spoke of my mission and while I was speaking I had the growing sense that one of the chakra’s contained a direct connection to my life’s purpose, and that this chakra wanted to speak to me about it.
Though I didn’t know which it was, or perhaps if it was all of them in some way…I was driven to figure it out. I started with a chakra meditation and while I envisioned each color, I invited that chakra to speak, asked it what messages it held for me and simply waited for the response before moving onto the next.
The answers I received came complete with visual images and feelings. I have listed them below.
Please keep in mind that there are several color variations one can use while meditating with the chakras, so don’t be alarmed if the colors you use are not listed. Also, the eighth chakra is actually ultra-violet light (so you can’t see the color), its color is dependent on the individual and determined by the soul and their current stage of development.

Root Chakra (Color Red)
I was shown two separate images, one was of a very old tree with a complicated and deeply connected root system and the other was a ball of swirling energy. The words, I am creation and creativity, I am the source, the root through which nourishment comes entered my mind along with the feelings of intense support.
Sacral Chakra (Color Orange)
For this chakra the image of a very old compass and map came to mind (something similar to maps made in the 1700′s) along with the words, I am intuition, the compass by which you use the map…this was accompanied by a deep sense of guidance.
Solar Plexus Chakra (Color Yellow)
I entered this chakra and saw myself, reflected in a mirror. It then panned out to an image of me in relation to the world, I heard the words I am self-awareness and the mirror by which you see from without…while experiencing myself from the position of the observer.
Heart Chakra (Color Green)
This chakra presented itself in the shape of a heart, and I saw an image of a knight on a quest riding hard on his horse. The words I am passion, I am the beating heart and the force that drives the adventurer out to meet his destiny entered my mind along with the feelings of intense desire and love, of feeling ignited.
Throat Chakra (Color Blue)
I was shown our blue world from out in space for a moment before it zoomed into an image of my mouth and jawline speaking into a microphone. I heard the words, I am your voice in the world and the vehicle through which you deliver your contribution and felt energy go out before me like a wave, interacting, changing, impacting everything around me.
Brow Chakra (Color Purple)
I entered this chakra and was shown a funnel through which poured intense white light and out of which came images, sounds and feelings. The words, I am your communications system. I transport messages from Source came to me along with the sense of receiving information…like being told a story, learning something fascinating or experiencing some new understanding.
Crown Chakra (Color White)
For this chakra I was shown a tunnel, on one side was the light-filled world of energy and on the other our physical reality. I heard the words, I am your bridge between the spiritual and physical worlds while experiencing the feeling on intense connection.
Eighth Chakra (Silver & Gold)
This chakra appeared as an indescribable being of white light that words can not express, the closest I can come is to say that I experienced a visual representation of consciousness. This consciousness stated, I am the aspect of you that is Source and I hold your mission. The other chakras assist me in delivering it. The resonance and vibration of the voice, coursed and hummed it’s way through me until all I could sense or feel was the movement of its vibration…like a melody or song that defies the mind…but to which the body responds.
Mission & Purpose
Now that I know how the chakras are currently at work in my life I am experiencing a greater congruency with my mission on the planet. The alignment has taken place. It’s a movement outwards that starts with expanding this site into its role as ambassador for my life’s work…the purpose of which is nurturing the dreams of the soul, igniting passion and impacting the world by assisting people to bring out their biggest, best selves!
What information might your chakras have for you?
What are you doing with your incredibly crazy, amazingly beautiful, precious life? That's the real question...and does what you are doing reflect who you really are at your deepest levels? Are you creating something synergetic between your life force and your physical reality? Well, regardless of the answer if you're thinking is leading in this direction, you are making a journey inward and are about to embark on the adventure of your life!

Fantastic exploration of the chakras, and I love that it comes from your own personal exploration, not just something you read.
I’ve never thought about speaking directly to my chakras like this, and it’s something I will explore in meditation this week.
Loving your articles Paula!
Much joy,
KL

Paula,
This is really cool!
I’m always on the look out for new aspects of my life experience that I can “speak” to — not just spirit guides or deities, but also archetypes, such as the “If Money Was A Person” exercise I’ve written about a few times… (link on my name above)
This is an original set of channels I haven’t thought to explore in quite the way you have here — I’m excited by the originality and eager to see what they have to say!
Thanks for the Chakra-by-Chakra breakdown too — I’m sure that will be helpful.

Paula, this is a fantastic idea of communicating with your chakras. In my meditations, I am not usually into seeing images. I get knowings and voices more than images. Some time earlier this year, for the first time ever for me, I got a very vivid image of the colors of each of my chakras. I was fascinated with the vividedness of the colors. I haven’t “seen” it like that since that day. I took it to be a very special visual gift from that meditation. Even my dreams are usually in black and white so when I see colors in dreams or meditations I pay especial attention to the colors and what they represent. Thanks for sharing the idea of talking to our chakras.

Warm Greetings Paula,
Thanks for sharing this detail with us. I can’t say I’ve actually asked my chakras to speak to me before, but I shall give it a go.
I have found that an interplay between the chakras and sound resonnations can be interesting to observe. I suspect that was a form of inter-chakra communication, though my conscious mind was not quite able to provide a translation as explicate as yours.

KL, Slade & Krishan,
I really want to hear from you about your experiences with this exercise and I’m so excited by your level of interest in trying it out! Please report back with your findings
Patricia,
This is very significant! In NLP we will use black & white to move a memory or experience further away from a person and vibrant colors to bring it very close…to create a fully associated state. I can’t help but think of this fully inhabited state when I read your description of the experience
Wow, thank you all for sharing your enthusiasm!
Much love,
pk

Paula, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I think I have made significant changes in connecting with my body this year. If I understand what you said in your comment, seeing the colors of my chakras would be a verification of this process.
Because of my childhood incest issues, I disconnected with my body as much as possible, definitely so during the years of abuse. To survive the abuse, I went into my head and stayed there for many years. Going through menopause the past 5 years has helped me to reconnect. Maybe that is why the hot flashes were so bad. I am thinking about this as I type the words. You have definitely given me some things to think about. Thank you.
Until I took a dream class about 5 years ago, I thought everybody dreamed in black and white. I was shocked that the people in the class, for the most part, dreamed in color. They were shocked that I dreamed mostly in black and white. I wonder what the significance of that would be????
By Paula Kawal on September 18th, 2007 at 8:23 am
Hi Patricia,
You’re so welcome! Yes, seeing the colors is a clear indication that you were fully inhabiting your body
As for the dreams I suggest you explore that further, while there are many options…something you can try is to enter a dream and then stop and ask who for whomever is in control of the scene. Once you find them you can ask what is up with all the black & white??? I’ve done similar things in the dreamscape and have been amazed at the results
Even if controlling dreams is not your thing…you can also do this through meditation by requesting a meeting with your dream-master. I may have to write about some of this at a later date!
Much love,
pk

Paula, thanks for the input on the dreams. I will some times “wake up” in a dream and sometimes I will hear myself state, “I am dreaming.” I have never done lucid dreaming. I will try this in meditation. Please do write an article about this. I would be interested in hearing what you have to say about it.

Hey Paula,
I used what I could remember of this post for my meditation this morning. I tuned into each chakra, visualising the colour, and asked what message that chakra had for me. Each chakra gave me a short sentence or two, often a command or guidance. It was simple, clear and concise.
The responses I had were words or sentences in my head.
I’ll be doing this again I think, especially if I feel blocked in any specific area!
By Paula Kawal on September 25th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
Hey K-L,
It’s so exciting to hear back from your experience! I think a blockage is exactly what this exercise ended up aiding me to remove
Much love,

This is a life changing article, I bet.
Now it’s time to talk.
By Paula Kawal on March 15th, 2009 at 8:31 am
Hi MGL,
Yes it was a life altering to begin to understand the healing (and information) that is available to us through our chakra system. Since this experience I have used it to clear past life traumas, family bloodline issues and many other negative influences as well as gaining insight on certain gifts and talents and how they can be used in the here and now.
Email is the best way to get ahold of me if you would like to talk!
Love and Light,
PK

Hi! I don’t know too much about chakras but is so exciting, to know that you can find out your mission or purpose in life by speaking to them. it must be difficult to learn but i would like to learn to concentred and awake my chakras.

Hi Paula,
I have done chakra meditations before, but talking to your chakras is very interesting technique.
Thanks,

Twenty or so years ago was when I first decided to try to learn how to meditate. I was holidaying on a beach in the Philipinnes, where I met a man who meditated regularily. He told me that meditation was simply emptying the mind of all thought. Over the years that followed, usually during stressful times of my life I would meditate as best I could to calm myself. It was during one especially stressful summer that spent time daily meditating. I was able to totally empty my mind of thought for several minutes at a time. This in itself I found very therapeutic. One day while I was meditating in my garden, I was able to totally separate myself from my mind. All of a sudden an intense warm white light flooded over my entire body. I had my eyes open at the time and I not only felt it but I also physically seen it. It was the exhillerating feeling I have ever experienced. I not sure how long the experience was as time seemed to stand still. I remember feeling like I was connected directly to the centre of creation. I suddenly knew all of the secrets of the universe. I was totally at peace and completely fearless. With in seconds of the experience I had already forgotton most of the insights I was in tune with while I was experiencing the light. With in minutes I was not able to remember any of the knowledge I was tapped into. I was however left in a state of euphoria that stayed with me for several weeks. In that time everything in my life went extremely well. Unfortunately, because things did go so well, I stopped trying to meditate. Now several years later I find myself trying to dupicate the experience, but to no avail. I have two questions for you. Is the experience I related to you a common experience among people who meditate? Is there some techniques I could be using to help me relax more before I begin to meditate? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely yours, Pat

Diana – The hardest part of any meditation is keeping your mind focused and loose enough not to grab a hold of and squash in-coming information. Practice getting quiet and still while constructing an image of the chakras in your mind to begin with. Eventually, more information will come in from there.
Desika – Enjoy!
Pat – You are describing a transcendent experience. This is very common to meditation. It is energetically hard to hold until your body learns to adjust to a higher level of energy. This usually requires quite a bit of clearing work as our physical bodies tend to be pretty dense when we first start down the path of spiritual growth. Over time, you will be able to hold it for longer and longer though. Try not to get too attached to recreating your previous experience though and instead be open to having new ones. Attachment will make your meditation efforts much more difficult. I hope I’ve answered your question.
My best to you all!
Love,
Paula
