Weird and Random Things

Andrea Hess at Empowered Soul tagged me with this delightful meme that gives us an opportunity to share some things about ourselves that you might not know.

Before I share my seven weird things, here are the rules of this game of tag:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

Here are seven random and weird things about me that you might not know:

1) I have loved Duran Duran since I was about eight years old and first saw their video, Hungry Like the Wolf. Simon Le Bon reminded me of another fascination at the time, Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.

What is perhaps unique about me in this situation is how much I rely on divine providence with anyone or thing that I feel an extremely strong connection with. I’ve seen Duran Duran in concert twice, both times I won tickets and I’m not typically someone who wins things :)
2) A part of me that is not always visible through my blog is my offbeat sense of humor and how I can find a reason to laugh in most any situation. Some of my favorite movies take the common and mundane and place a quirky frame over the circumstances and stories of life. I absolutely loved The Princess Bride and Amelie for these reasons.

3) I have moved over 37 times in my life so far and I’m only 33 years old.

4) I lived a nomadic life out of a cab-over on a 3/4 ton truck with 3 other people and 4 big dogs for about a two-three year period.

5) The Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman helped awaken me to my spiritual calling as a pre-teen and helped me to recognize the Hero’s Journey happening in my own life. Eventually, I actually met Margaret who was kind enough to give me a mini-interview :)
6) I broke a group into the music industry and I had no idea of what I was doing. I have a tendency to jump into things I know nothing about on blind faith, make great friends and pull together something really creative!

7) I once worked with a German company and was practicing my growing language skills with one of the fellows in the office who spoke German, English and Russian. I inadvertently told him I didn’t find him attractive and did not catch this slip until he suggested that perhaps he should change his cologne! How’s that for embarrassing???

Most of the people I would tag have already been tagged so I will go ahead and include links to their sites anyhow:

Slade Roberson of Shift Your Spirits
Albert Foong of Urban Monk
Jeff Lilly at Druid Journal
Christine Kane at ChristineKane.com, Christine may have already done this meme last year? Not sure.
Patricia Singleton at Journey of a Lightworker
Sarah Peters at Spiritually Engaged
Vera at True Hope Through Spiritual Awareness

Have fun with this guys!

Hey Andrea,

I really had a great time reading your seven weird and random things as well! I totally identify with watching Top Model…and would have been hooked except that my husband couldn’t stomach it!

I did have fun with American Idol for a few seasons though and because my husband so loves music…he let that one fly, (plus the auditions had us both in stitches!!!) There is something to intuitives and really bad reality television!!!

Now-a-days, I monitor what comes in so closely that I exist primarily outside of television altogether and I never watch the news because I found it to be so fear based…so gone are those days :(
Hi Patricia,

I knew you had already been tagged, thanks for posting the link. If you ever want someone to cling to in that hot air balloon adventure….I’m your gal! I’ve never done it but have always thought it would be very fun!

Another thing we have in common is the love of Jack London. I read The Call of the Wild when I was eleven and White Fang was my absolute favorite and part of the reason that I had the adventure that my book Animal Magick is all about. Perhaps the attraction to Alaska and Australia (I feel these too) is the sense of being in something that is completely wild. It’s so appealing, is it not?

Much love to you both,

PK

Hi Paula!

Thanks for the link. I’ve posted my 7 random and weird things with a link attached to my name above. I really enjoyed reading your list. Fun posts like this seem to inject even more humanity into blogs, and I appreciate a glimpse into the quirky personalities of the writers i like so much.

Paula,

My best friend all through junior high and high school was a big time Durani.

I minored in Russian in college (German in high school).

The one over-arching thing I feel no one would know about me from reading my blog is my sense of humor — which can be far too wicked for the focus of my work.

I haven’t counted in a while, but I’ve moved at least once or more for every year of adult life since I was 18 (I’m 37 now…)

The seeds of my Marketing, Copywriting, Design, and Promotion experience began (quite accidentally or incidentally) working with independent music labels.

Thanks for sharing these details — I enjoyed it immensely!

Hi Sarah,

I loved your random and weird things…it’s so fun to self examine, isn’t it?

Slade,

That is too funny about your Durani friend, the German link, sense of humor, moves and music beginnings. Did our guides know what they were doing or what when they put us together?

Your list was so much fun reading…I really enjoyed it!

Much love,

PK
