A Rose By Any Other Name

I’ve written this article for those who would like to bring a little more love in their lives. If you are at a place where you want to find someone of like mind and heart to spend a little bit of time with, this article is for you.

Love and the Law of Attraction

Before I met my husband I had a list of criteria I wanted in a romantic partner. I wasn’t even interested in dating someone that didn’t meet these requirements. When dating a new person I always had what I was looking for in mind, and if I didn’t see enough matches early on I moved on to someone else. Although I never realized it, I was using the law of attraction to find what I wanted.

I had dated enough to have a list of areas that I was really clear on…and I was a complete and total match for getting it partially because I would accept nothing less and partially because my beliefs were congruent with what I wanted.

The Love List

To begin getting clear on what you want in a romantic partner, compile a list of attributes that are a “must have” for you, in that special someone. Write down everything that comes to mind and then go into detail as to why specifically it matters, what your person having that will get for you and what makes it a must have. When you’ve finished your list, the next step is to find out if you are a vibrational match for what you want.

The Vibration Revelation

Many of us think we know how we feel about love, what we want and how to get it, however I am guessing that most of know less than we think. A love relationship is an old subject even for the very young among us as it is one of the very first relationships that we experience.

As a child growing up we form ideas about love, what it means, what it will get for us and how to get it by watching the interaction of those around us…the conclusions we come to become deeply embedded within us, operating below the level of our conscious thought.

Are you curious about the beliefs you have lurking under the surface within your deeper mind? Are you wondering what is driving your patterns, attracting you to the same type of man/woman and influencing the kinds of relationships you bring into your life?

If so, answering the following questions will reveal how you really think about love and provide a window into how congruent your thoughts are in this most important area of life.

Comparing the outcomes of these questions with the attributes you’re looking for in a partner with give you a good idea if you are a vibrational match for what it is that you want.

So what if you’re not a match for what you want? I’ll cover that in part two of Manifesting the Love of Your Life.

Uncovering How You Think About Love

What were the positive and negative events that shaped your relationships with men/women?

What was your parents relationship with each other (your observations)?

Finish the sentence. I think my dads/moms beliefs about love were?

The effects of their beliefs on you was?

Finish the sentence. I am/am not in the exact love situation I’d like to be in because?

What you need to do to have the relationship you want is?

What stops you from having the relationship you want?

Fill in the Blank

People in love are _________

Love makes people_________

I’d have love if_____________

My dad thought love was__________

In my family love caused_______________

Love equals_______________

If I had love I’d_____________

Love is________________

Love causes______________

In order to be loved I need to______________

When I’m in love I usually_______________

This post is a creative approach to exploring the paradox of judging what we are, or limiting ourselves to a particular way of being. I know that many people find looking beyond the many aspects of what we are to be a powerful way of cultivating awareness through the you are not what presents itself inside of you approach.

I think that an equally powerful practice that is sometimes overlooked is totally embracing every role you’ve ever played and every archetype you’ve ever embodied.

Whatever your view, it is useful to compare these two modes of thinking, examine them side by side and switch modes from time to time. I feel that I have developed a deep compassion for myself and others by playing with this viewpoint and have found they both ultimately lead to the same place.

Awareness with a sense of humor.

This particular brand of I am that awareness started while I was listening to the radio (something I rarely do) while driving my daughter to preschool one day. A popular song written by Meredith Brooks in the nineties called, “Bitch”, came on.

I’m a bitch, I’m a tease
I’m a goddess on my knees
when you hurt, when you suffer
I’m your angel undercover
I’ve been numbed, I’m revived
can’t say I’m not alive
You know I wouldn’t want it any other way

Perhaps it seems like an unlikely place to find the inspiration for writing an article about compassion, but there it was…a song about the many roles we play within one life time. And it gets really interesting to me when I consider the roles that we embody over several.

I can take it out even one step further and examine the mythical roles we play as a race…the universal experience of the human being that has been evolving since we first became a part of the consciousness of this planet…this living organism. What story might unfold from that perspective?

Whether I’m a bitch, a goddess, a sinner, a saint, a mother, a teacher, a lover or a healer…it’s all part of the paradox within me which encompasses all things but is contained by none of them, it is intangible and undefinable because spirit communicates using channels that exist outside of judgment.

Emotions from the different approaches.

From the perspective of you are not that, you look at emotion and say, there it is…it is not me…it is simply a reaction to egoic or wrong thinking. It is information about what is happening inside of me. From this place of observation and acceptance the feeling wanes and you develop an altered state of consciousness.

From the perspective of I am that, you may look at rage and see yourself as Aries the god of war, or Chaos the father of destruction. Embrace that very male energy bringing it inside of you, channeling it to and from the very place of it’s origin and existence becoming it so completely…and accepting it so fully that the feeling transmutes into self awareness and a higher state of consciousness.

Whatever the approach, you land at the same place. So I find that when I approach something challenging from one perspective and it is not giving me the results I desire, that switching to the other mode often will.

Using the modes to connect with desired states.

I find both approaches very useful but I primarily use I am not that thinking when I want to enter a state of nothingness. When I want to channel specific energies I use archetypes.

I typically call on the Queen that I was in a past life for confidence and authority, I have a favorite goddess for sexual energy and usually I call on a combination of the mother goddess and the Virgin Mary for nurturing energies.

Christ consciousness is useful for inner peace, service and compassion under the many different forms and cultures through which it arises, bearing it’s hidden messages about life through nature…a message that is symbolized in each of the evergreen wreaths, boughs and trees that decorate our homes at this time of year.

Using the modes to access compassion.

So this holiday season when you are faced with someone whose beastly behavior is presenting you with an opportunity to grow, you have a few compassionate choices available in how you select to view them within the situation.

You can look for the spirit within, using the they are not their behaviors thinking, or you can jump right into beastliness with them and ride it to it’s creative Source and the very deepest levels of spiritual communication.

It is the process of using all that comes up for you as the mirror…knowing that you only see what you do in others because it is in your own consciousness, therefore you created it and so it is also within you.

At the Source level there is ever only one thing going on…the rest comes down to our judgments and interpretation.

Both of these methods lift us out of judgment and make us more compassionate to ourselves and others which ultimately comes down to viewing each other outside of the lenses of separation.

Spread the love now!

Some of the greatest acts of compassion I have ever received have come from this non-judgmental space of connectedness.

One in particular that was extremely life altering came in the form of understanding that no matter what I did to chase my step-dad off, I could not make him abandon me. Up till then I had been left by every father I had ever known, he knew what it was like to be left by his parents and so he simply could not do it, no matter how hard I pushed him.

So when someone is really getting under my skin, one of my favorite practices is to fully and completely step into their way of being, knowing I’m about to take an exciting journey of discovery as I acknowledge what I see in them, breathe it in and say to myself…yep, I’m all that…and more!

Then I silently bless them with gratitude for the opportunity to integrate these aspects of my own consciousness, knowing the separation with which I viewed them previously was merely a reflection of my own divided internal state

This holiday season…I wish you many opportunities to spread the love of your ever expanding awareness, opening to who and what you are and finding in the process that you are capable of throwing your arms around the world!

Have you ever considered speaking to your chakras and getting their meaning directly?

I’ve experimented with this before while experiencing symptoms, which wrote about it in my post “Gotta Question? Ask Your Body…” but this exercise is more about asking the chakras to explain how they currently function for you in your life.

One idea in particular set me in this direction of exploration after being coached around the development of my new website. During the session, I spoke of my mission and while I was speaking I had the growing sense that one of the chakra’s contained a direct connection to my life’s purpose, and that this chakra wanted to speak to me about it.

Though I didn’t know which it was, or perhaps if it was all of them in some way…I was driven to figure it out. I started with a chakra meditation and while I envisioned each color, I invited that chakra to speak, asked it what messages it held for me and simply waited for the response before moving onto the next.

The answers I received came complete with visual images and feelings. I have listed them below.

Please keep in mind that there are several color variations one can use while meditating with the chakras, so don’t be alarmed if the colors you use are not listed. Also, the eighth chakra is actually ultra-violet light (so you can’t see the color), its color is dependent on the individual and determined by the soul and their current stage of development.

Root Chakra (Color Red)
I was shown two separate images, one was of a very old tree with a complicated and deeply connected root system and the other was a ball of swirling energy. The words, I am creation and creativity, I am the source, the root through which nourishment comes entered my mind along with the feelings of intense support.

Sacral Chakra (Color Orange)
For this chakra the image of a very old compass and map came to mind (something similar to maps made in the 1700′s) along with the words, I am intuition, the compass by which you use the map…this was accompanied by a deep sense of guidance.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Color Yellow)
I entered this chakra and saw myself, reflected in a mirror. It then panned out to an image of me in relation to the world, I heard the words I am self-awareness and the mirror by which you see from without…while experiencing myself from the position of the observer.

Heart Chakra (Color Green)
This chakra presented itself in the shape of a heart, and I saw an image of a knight on a quest riding hard on his horse. The words I am passion, I am the beating heart and the force that drives the adventurer out to meet his destiny entered my mind along with the feelings of intense desire and love, of feeling ignited.

Throat Chakra (Color Blue)
I was shown our blue world from out in space for a moment before it zoomed into an image of my mouth and jawline speaking into a microphone. I heard the words, I am your voice in the world and the vehicle through which you deliver your contribution and felt energy go out before me like a wave, interacting, changing, impacting everything around me.

Brow Chakra (Color Purple)
I entered this chakra and was shown a funnel through which poured intense white light and out of which came images, sounds and feelings. The words, I am your communications system. I transport messages from Source came to me along with the sense of receiving information…like being told a story, learning something fascinating or experiencing some new understanding.

Crown Chakra (Color White)
For this chakra I was shown a tunnel, on one side was the light-filled world of energy and on the other our physical reality. I heard the words, I am your bridge between the spiritual and physical worlds while experiencing the feeling on intense connection.

Eighth Chakra (Silver & Gold)
This chakra appeared as an indescribable being of white light that words can not express, the closest I can come is to say that I experienced a visual representation of consciousness. This consciousness stated, I am the aspect of you that is Source and I hold your mission. The other chakras assist me in delivering it. The resonance and vibration of the voice, coursed and hummed it’s way through me until all I could sense or feel was the movement of its vibration…like a melody or song that defies the mind…but to which the body responds.

Mission & Purpose

Now that I know how the chakras are currently at work in my life I am experiencing a greater congruency with my mission on the planet. The alignment has taken place. It’s a movement outwards that starts with expanding this site into its role as ambassador for my life’s work…the purpose of which is nurturing the dreams of the soul, igniting passion and impacting the world by assisting people to bring out their biggest, best selves!

What information might your chakras have for you?
